Language Arts

Amy Schmeltz has been with the corporation since 2009. She holds a bachelor's degree in secondary education English, a master's degree in education from Olivet Nazerene University, and a master's degree in journalism from IU. She teaches 8th grade English Language Arts at LJH and loves to help students grow as readers, writers, thinkers, and problem-solvers. When she isn't at school, you might see her substituting at one of the St. Joseph County Public Library branches, looking for good reads at the Plymouth Public Library, adding books to the Little Free Library at the Potato Creek State Park Nature Center in memory of her dad, going to the Farmer's Market on Saturdays in River Park Square, spending time outdoors gardening or hiking, and hanging out with family at Koontz Lake. Amy and her husband Dan enjoy traveling and love being host parents to German exchange students Leon, PHS Class of 2016, and Emma, Class of 2023.
