Last week at Plymouth High School, Judge Matthew Sarber presented to our Dual Credit and regular Government classes, as well as Dual Credit U.S. History, in honor of Voter Registration Day. Representatives from the Secretary of State’s office and the Clerk’s office were also on campus to help students register to vote and discuss civic engagement!

⭐ New Teacher Spotlight ⭐ Pictured is Mya Musselman, new 2nd grade teacher at Menominee, with Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter! Ms. Musselman graduated in 2024 from Grace College with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and is passionate about working with and educating children. When she's not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time outdoors, being with her family, reading, and listening to music. Welcome to the team, Ms. Musselman!

⭐ New Teacher Spotlight ⭐ Pictured is Ms. Casi Painton, now in her thirteenth year of teaching, with Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter! Ms. Painton is excited to begin her first year teaching second grade. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her son and daughter. Together, they love taking small day trips, playing games, and having Friday movie nights. Their household is complete with a precious dog, a bunny, and a flock of chickens! While students participated in an asynchronous eLearning day, our staff engaged in professional development. In the morning, EL Facilitator Ryan Ahlrich led a session for educators working with English Language Learners (ELL). The session focused on understanding current ELL policies and laws, analyzing the WIDA Framework and the "PCSC Can Do Model," and exploring effective classroom differentiation strategies to better support ELL students.

⭐ New Teacher Spotlight ⭐ Pictured is Mr. Scott Sayger, new 6th Grade ELA teacher at Riverside Intermediate, with Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter! Mr. Sayger brings a wealth of experience to Plymouth Community School Corporation, having earned his Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University and his Master's in Teaching from Western Governors University in March 2024. Teaching is a second career for him after over 25 years in media sales, marketing, and video production. He has been teaching at the intermediate level for the past two years and has been in education since 2019. When he's not in the classroom, Mr. Sayger enjoys spending time with his wife, Glenda, and their menagerie of animals, including 1 dog, 8 cats, freshwater and saltwater fish, and a pair of lovebirds named "Huck" and "Molly." Welcome to the team, Mr. Sayger!

⭐ New Teacher Spotlight ⭐ Pictured is Mr. Trevor Pletcher, new 7th and 8th grade science teacher at Lincoln Jr. High, with Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter! Mr. Pletcher is excited to take a step forward within PCSC, having started here as a Kindergartner in 2005. He began working as a substitute teacher in 2019 and recently graduated from Butler University in 2023 with a Bachelor's in Theatre. His passion for education, driven by his minor in education and experience working with youth, has led him to the classroom. Beyond the school day, you'll find Mr. Pletcher assisting with cross country, the musical, or spell bowl at LJH. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, playing beach volleyball, and staying active in the performing arts around Marshall County. Welcome to the team, Mr. Pletcher!

⭐ New Teacher Spotlight ⭐ Pictured is Mrs. Laura Perkins, the new Art teacher at Plymouth High School, alongside Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter! Mrs. Perkins comes to us from Westview Jr.-Sr. High School, where she taught art, photography, and yearbook. She graduated from Bellmont High School in Decatur, Indiana, earned her Bachelor’s in Art Education from Ball State University, and completed her Master’s in Education at Indiana Wesleyan University. Passionate about travel, she has even hosted two student trips to Europe. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, watching movies, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Perkins lives in Winona Lake with her husband and two children. Her eldest son is currently attending Ball State University. She’s excited to join Plymouth Community Schools and can’t wait to get to know her students and see their creative work! Welcome to the team, Mrs. Perkins!
