What does Communications & Marketing do?
Manages Social Media – Runs the corporation’s official social media accounts and assists schools/departments with their individual pages to maintain consistency and engagement.
Oversees Branding & Marketing – Creates and manages promotional materials, ensuring brand consistency across all platforms.
Handles Mass Communication – Sends out district-wide messages, including weather delays, emergency notifications, and general updates, refining messages for clarity and impact.
Coordinates Press Coverage – Requests media coverage (newspapers, radio, TV) for school events, builds relationships with local press, and escorts media on campuses as needed.
Captures & Edits Event Photography – Takes and edits photos for school events, special programs, and marketing materials upon request.
Manages the Website – Maintains the school district website, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements (ADA accessibility, required postings, and document archiving).
Recruits Staff & Students – Supports district-wide recruitment efforts for new employees and students through marketing campaigns and outreach.
Advises & Trains Staff on Communication Best Practices – Helps school administrators and staff refine messaging and use communication tools effectively.
Develops Crisis Communication Plans – Works with leadership and Safety & Security to prepare for crisis situations, ensuring clear and timely communication during emergencies.
Designs & Edits Publications – Creates newsletters, brochures, flyers, and digital content for district-wide use upon request.
Supports Event Planning & Promotion – Assists in planning and promoting district events, including logistics, communication strategies, and materials.
Manages Public Relations & Community Engagement – Strengthens relationships with local businesses, organizations, and stakeholders to enhance the district’s reputation and outreach.
Monitors & Responds to Public Inquiries – Oversees messaging on social media and other platforms, responding to community questions and concerns professionally or connects them to proper resource.
Tracks & Analyzes Engagement Metrics – Monitors website and social media analytics to assess communication effectiveness and adjust strategies accordingly.

If you want coverage but do not need the Director of Communications and Marketing physically present, submit your photos with a description for consideration.
If a reporter reaches out to you, notify the Director of Communications and Marketing. All media inquiries must go through her.
