PHS Variety Show Our theme this year is Superheroes and Villains. The show includes large group vocal musical numbers from Counterpoint and Crimson Connection choir groups as well as duets and solos from students. Jazz Band will be featured, along with the Pit Orchestra playing several superhero and villain musical pieces. There is a Star Wars drum battle and a number of silly and funny skits. And this year, for the first time in PHS Variety Show history, the PHS Administration will be performing a skit that they have written. The show is sure to be a great evening of entertainment. This year’s Día del Niño celebration and Marshall County Kids Expo will be combined into one exciting event! This collaborative effort promises a fun-filled day celebrating children, culture, and community resources. What is Día del Niño? Día del Niño, or "Children's Day," is a cherished tradition celebrated in many Latin American countries. This special day honors children and promotes their well-being through fun, learning, and cultural appreciation. PCSC is proud to bring this tradition to our community, providing a space where families can gather and celebrate our students in a meaningful way. What is the Kids Expo? The Marshall County Kids Expo is an annual event designed to connect families with information about local activities, camps, and services available for children throughout the summer and year-round. Attendees can explore opportunities in sports, arts, and education, ensuring parents are informed about enriching experiences for their kids. Webster Elementary School has been recognized as a Model Professional Learning Community at Work®! One of About 600 Schools and Districts in the US and Canada to Receive This Honor Webster Elementary was recently recognized by Solution Tree for its sustained success in raising student achievement. The school’s successful implementation of the Professional Learning Communities at Work® (PLC) process was a major contributing factor in the improved achievement of its students. PLCs are schools and districts in which educators recognize that the key to improved learning for students is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students. The three big ideas of a PLC call upon educators to: Focus on learning. Build a collaborative culture. Create a results orientation. Responding to news of the recognition, Principal Brooke Busse said, “Wow...I am beyond excited and so proud of our staff and students! It takes a village to ensure success for all students and I couldn't have imagined doing it alongside anyone else. We have an incredibly dedicated and hardworking staff. Our students feel loved and supported and at the same time understand we expect their best effort every day. Our school motto is 'Together we can do hard things!' which speaks perfectly to our belief in the PLC approach!” Schools are recognized based on strict criteria, including demonstration of a commitment to PLC concepts, implementation of these concepts for at least three years, and clear evidence of improved student learning over that period. Once measurable results can be seen, the school must explain its practices, structures, and culture and submit its application for consideration by the PLC Review Committee. According to the Champions of PLC at Work®, educators in the schools and districts selected for this recognition have shown “a sustained commitment to helping all of their students achieve at high levels. They have been willing to alter the structure and culture of the organization to reflect their commitment. We applaud them and congratulate them for achieving this very significant milestone on the never-ending PLC journey.” Liz Miller, a dedicated educator at Webster Elementary, added, “Being recognized as a Model PLC School is an honor that highlights the dedication and collaboration of our teaching teams and the entire school community. We are committed to following the process and ensuring that our instruction prioritizes the essential knowledge and skills students need to succeed.” Tana Houin, another incredible educator at Webster, also expressed her pride in the school’s achievement: “I am extremely honored and proud of our entire school in earning the Model PLC designation. Have a wonderful Winter Break! January 6 is a teacher work day, so we will see students back on January 7.

Tomorrow, PCSC will be on a two hour delay schedule. If the temperature is at 0 by 7:30am, we will offer our cold weather bus. We will make a post if that is the case.

This year marks the 26th annual Warm Up Marshall County! Team Oliver Ford Lincoln teams up with the local community each year to ensure that people of all ages have a winter coat for the season. Please drop off your new or cleaned/gently used coats to one of their sponsors listed on the attached flyer. Should you have a coat to donate, collection will continue through Wednesday, November 20th. Should you be in need of a coat, distribution will be Saturday, November 23rd 10am - noon & Sunday, November 24th noon - 2pm. Thank you!
