Plymouth Community School Corporation is excited to announce Jill VanDriessche has been chosen to fill the assistant superintendent vacancy. On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, the PCSC school board unanimously approved VanDriessche’s three-year contract with the corporation.
The vacancy was created when former Superintendent Dan Tyree retired at the end of June after serving 38 years with the school corporation. Last month, Andy Hartley, the assistant superintendent at the time, was promoted to fill the superintendent position.
VanDriessche begins her new role at Plymouth schools on August 16. For the past 15 years, she has worked for the South Bend Community School Corporation. VanDriessche is currently the principal at Perley Fine Arts Academy, a role she has held since August of 2013; from 2008 to July of 2013, she was the principal at Monroe Primary Center. During the 2007-2008 school year, she was the assistant principal at Dickinson Intermediate Center and the prior school year she held the title as an instructional coach at one of the South Bend intermediate schools. VanDriessche began her career in education as a teacher for SBCSC in 2002.
VanDriessche holds a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education both from Indiana University South Bend. She also has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame.
Prior to transitioning to education, she was a domestic violence victim advocate for Madison Center and Hospital for one year and the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office for four years.
VanDriessche is married to Riley High School swim coach and teacher John VanDriessche. They are the proud parents of Cooper (12) and Molly (9) who will both attend Plymouth schools this year. In her spare time, she enjoys time reading, time at the pool, and working in her flower garden.
