Riverside Blood Drive

American Red Cross blood drive participants

Thank you to the 40 RIS parents, staff members, and community members who took time out of their day to donate blood at our Riverside Intermediate School blood drive today. The blood drive took place from 1-7 p.m. and donors are still here now finishing up their blood draws.

Account manager Dianna Weiss said in all 35 units of blood were donated. Statistics show one unit of blood can possibly save three lives. The American Red Cross says they truly appreciate the generosity of our donors especially because currently there is an urgent need for blood donations as Hurricane Dorian has forced blood drive cancellations in the impacted areas. Your blood or financial donation enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to, and help people recover from disaster. The blood collected here today will end up wherever it is needed the most after being tested at a regional Red Cross facility.
