Plymouth High School juniors Sebastian Jimenez and Ivy Marin, sophomore Gaby Padilla Rodriguez and freshman Noble Bockman have all been selected for showing the most growth among their PHS peers for November. The students were nominated by PHS staff members for showing growth in various ways and the award winners were selected by a team of PHS administrators.

Both juniors Sebastian Jimenez and Ivy Marin were chosen by PHS staff to receive PHS November Growth Awards. Jimenez was nominated by PHS Theatre Teacher Jane Faulstich for grade improvement. Faulstich said, “Almost daily, during my prep, I see Sebastian getting one-on-one time with PHS Interventionist Aide Regina Woods. Sebastian has been working hard to try to keep his grades up, and he has shown progress and dedication. We all love Mrs. Woods, and I think she is great with him, and he with her. I appreciate that he is using his time wisely and that he is proving to all of us that he can do this!” Marin was nominated by PHS Career Marketing Teacher Judi Lykowski. She said, “Ivy recently went above and beyond covering three important open house events for the city of Plymouth and our school corporation. The three events took place on a Saturday, not on a school day. The events were all ribbon-cutting ceremonies; one for the new Marshall County Philanthropy Center, the second for the Growing Kids Learning Center and the third event was the dedication of the new Dr. Susan Bardwell Aquatic Center. The ribbon-cutting ceremonies were slated to happen back to back starting at 11 a.m. However, the events didn't wrap up until close to 2 p.m., although I told Ivy she could leave, she insisted on remaining until the end. She not only got video of all three, but she stayed for the pool christening and dedication. This is just one example of how she has gone above and beyond this month. I appreciate all the extra time outside of class that Ivy puts in to help with marketing projects for PCSC and our community.”

Sophomore Gaby Padilla Rodriguez was nominated for assignment completion and grade improvement by WSOI Teacher Dylan Connor. He said, “In the first quarter, Gaby turned in late or incomplete work often, and that seemed to be her pattern. Over the last few months though, she has demonstrated a real drive to improve. Her attitude changed, her determination changed, and she has set herself on a track to success. I'm so proud of her, and I love reading her writing - she is a natural!”

WSOI Freshman Noble Bockman was nominated by his first semester Radio TV PHS teacher Judi Lykowski for assignment completion and his classroom behavior. She said, “Noble recently stepped up to help our PTV team during ISTEP when four upperclassmen were out of the room testing. He not only conquered his work for the day, but he pitched in and made an animated graphic for our news show that was assigned to another student who was out due to testing. He also took on another assignment to go meet ABC 57 News at the front door and take them to the studio theatre for a planned music recording. While there he recorded video of the performance as well so we could use the video for our upcoming PTV shows. Noble then came back to the room and edited the video for our show. I’m proud of Noble’s willingness to tackle so many assignments in one class period proficiently. If it wasn't for his efforts those elements would have been cut from our show. Thank you Noble for being a huge team player!”
