Plymouth High School is proud to announce this year’s valedictorian is Jackson Lee. He completed his high school career with the top GPA of 4.15 in the class of 2019, which consists of 262 graduating seniors. During commencement, Lee will be receiving an Academic Honors Diploma. He will have the honor of giving the valedictory speech. He is the son of Jennifer and Timothy Lee.
Lee was enrolled as a student at the Weidner School of Inquiry @ PHS for all four years of his high school career. His course of study has included six Advanced Placement courses; altogether, Lee has earned 52 college credits by excelling through dozens of dual credit courses.
Throughout his four years at PHS, Lee was active in athletics playing varsity football for the Rockies for three years and serving as captain of the team his senior year. He played varsity baseball for the Pilgrims for two years, and Lee served as the varsity basketball team manager for two years as well. His continuous involvement in high school athletics and his ability to maintain a high grade-point average earned Lee the Indianapolis Colts Indiana All-Star Academic Athlete recognition in 2018. Just this week Lee was named to the Northern Lakes All-Academic Team for his involvement in football and baseball for Plymouth High School.
Lee excelled with being involved in leadership opportunities at PHS and in the community. He was an elected class officer for all four years, and he served as Class President his freshman year. Lee was an active member of the National Honor Society and held the title of Vice President during his senior year. He was an officer for two years on the PHS Key club and a member of the LEAD Club which stands for Leaders Eliminating Alcohol and Drugs.
During his last two years of high school, Lee played an active role in local government by serving as a member of the Plymouth Mayor’s Youth Council. During his junior year, he was chosen as an Indiana Association of School Principals Rising Stars of Indiana as Lee was ranked at the time within the top five percent of his class.
Lee plans to attend Cedarville University in Ohio and study sports business management while playing baseball. After graduation, he hopes to work in front office management for a Major League Baseball team.
Scholarships, grants, and awards Lee received include the Mary Winquist Franklin and Joe Franklin Scholarship, the Plymouth Athletic Booster Club Scholar-Athlete Award, the Dr. Kent and Judy Guild Mental Attitude Award, the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Award, the Cedarville President’s Society Fellows Scholarship, a Cedarville University Baseball scholarship, a Cedarville Excellence Scholarship, and the Moose Krause Memorial Scholar-Athlete scholarship.
