Menominee Students Collect Donations and Raise Funds for Marshall Co. Humane Society

Humane Society donations and Christmas Tree

Menominee Elementary School third grade students and Menominee Student Council members sponsored a collection for the Marshall County Humane Society this past Friday. In trade for a dollar or a donation of a pet item, students and staff were allowed to wear pajamas to school last Friday. Ms. Mary Dolph’s third-grade class spearheaded the project by making advertisement posters to spread the news. Her students were busy early last week hanging their handmade signs throughout the Menominee hallways. Students in the other two third-grade classrooms, along with Ms. Dolph’s held an item drive throughout the month collecting dozens of items such as dog and cat treats, food, and durable toys for furry friends that call the Marshall County Humane Society home. On Friday, donated items were placed under the school’s Christmas tree, and students who brought in monetary donations or an actual donation item(s) got to add their name to a paw print ornament that hangs on the tree. In total, students collected $368 in cash donations and 150 donated items that will be given to the Humane Society. A representative from the Marshall County Humane Society is scheduled to pick up the gifts this Friday, December 21 at 10:45 a.m. Student council members and third-grade students will help load the items into the Humane Society vehicle.
