Plymouth High School Receives Manufacturing Micro-Grant

Recently Plymouth High School received a $1,000 IN-MaC Manufacturing Micro-Grant to foster the growth of youth manufacturing initiatives right here in Plymouth and the surrounding area. On Tuesday, December 4, through Friday, December 7, dozens of sophomores explored career opportunities in Plymouth. The grant money was used for transportation costs to allow students to visit several businesses and Career Tech Education (CTE) programs held at many of the other nine other schools that make up the North Central Area Vocational Cooperative. Stops were made at the Cosmetology program at Knox Beauty College, the Automotive Services Technology program taught at the Starke County Initiative for Lifelong Learning , the Graphic Imaging Technology program at Knox High School, the Industrial Automation and Robotics I & II Knox Middle School, the Construction Technology program in Plymouth, and the Criminal Justice program taught at Ancilla College. The visits to local businesses consisted of ITAMCO, Homestead Dairy LLC, Valmont Industries, Inc., Saint Joseph Health System, and the Plymouth Police Department. PHS sophomores also got to visit the Health Science Education program, the new Welding program, and the Precision Machining program all taught on campus at Plymouth High School.
