PHS Annual Girls Track Team Banquet
By Alissa Knapp

The Plymouth High School Girls track team along with their families celebrated the end of the season and end of the school year with a banquet Wednesday evening at the Rockpile. Student-athletes and coaches got to enjoy a meal together at the Weir’s concession pavilion and reminisce about the season. The meal consisted of fried chicken from Martin's and side dishes carried in by track members. This year, the PHS girls track team was coached by three PHS teachers; head coach Jeff Kindelan teaches science, and both assistant coach Thomas Tippett and assistant coach Nathan Wilson teach math.

The season is not over for two lucky members of the team. Freshman Claudia Marohn and junior Cece Robinson qualified for state competition. The two Lady Pilgrim track team members qualified for the State Finals next week. Marohn finished in 3rd place in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 3 inches; jumping three inches higher than she had ever jumped before. Robinson won the shot put competition with a throw of 39 feet 3 ½ inches. The IHSAA State Finals are scheduled for Friday, June 1 starting at 3 p.m. on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington.

Juniors Julia Marohn and Gabriella Ruiz enjoy the sunshine while at the girls track team banquet on Wednesday evening.   Assistant Coach Nathan Wilson, Head coach Jeff Kindelan, and Assistant coach Thomas Tippett.
