Starting on February 14 and continuing through March 14, 2012, public elementary schools across the United States will be eligible to participate in an exciting reading challenge on We Give Books! We're doing just what our name suggests: giving away books - 150,000 of them, to be exact - to schools nationwide.

Earning free books for your school is fun and easy!

1. Just visit our site, www.wegivebooks.org. Starting on February 14 you'll be able to sign up to read on behalf of the Read for My School campaign. You’ll want to practice reading on We Give Books beforehand to make sure that you’re ready to read and earn for your school when the campaign begins.

2. Enter your school name on the registration form so that we can track the number of books that your school earns. If you're already a member of We Give Books, please visit your member profile and enter your school name (Login > Settings > Country > School Name) before reading for the Read for My School campaign.

3. Choose a great children's book and read! Click "Give a Book" at the end of the story to be counted toward your school’s reading total.

4. Spread the word: Encourage friends and family members to participate and earn even more books for your school!

 
 
Dr. Cadwell will be at Menominee this Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria.  The topic of presentation is ADD/ADHD. This info night promises to be very informative.  As well, the information night is open to all parents at all schools!

Renaissance Home Connect provides students and parents information about Accelerated Reader (AR) information when away from school.  Students may  login with their Renaissance Username & Password.  Please contact Library Staff or your student's Classroom Teacher if you need the login information.  When using Home Connect, you can: 

  • See progress toward reading goals (Students in grades 2-4 have a new AR goal each 9 weeks)
  • Conduct book searches using AR Bookfinder.
  • Review results on AR quizzes.
  • View number of books read, words read, and quizzes passed.
  • And much, much more.

The Washington PE Department recently received a grant through Donors Choose.  $490 was raised through this website to purchase 12 new 16" Scooters for our students to use while in PE class.  Donations came in from all over the country for this project.  The generosity of these donors is greatly appreciated.

On January 10th, Dr. Cadwell presented her 1st parent series on sleep issues.   The next series will cover ADD/ADHD.  This will be held at Menominee Elementary on February 9th.  For additional information on the sleep series, view her power point or news link below.
