Plymouth High School Bridge Bust students began designing and building bridges for the ACSE Bridge Bust competition back in January. The competition was last Friday at Purdue University. Mitch Rose and Luke Walters attended the event and represented PHS. The students placed 2nd out of 100 competitors. Every spring Purdue ASCE hosts the Bridge Bust High School Outreach Event for high schools in the Midwest. The purpose for each student team is to build a bridge that is the most structurally efficient, meaning the bridge can carry the highest load while having the smallest mass. Awards are given based on structural efficiency and aesthetic appeal. Along with the main competition, there are also side competitions for students to participate in throughout the day.
