Abraham Lincoln Impersonator a Hit at Jefferson’s Veterans Day Program

Abraham Lincoln Impersonator

Abraham Lincoln was the guest of honor at this year’s Veterans Day program at Jefferson Elementary on Friday afternoon! He sure kept student’s attention for the half hour-long program as he talked about his childhood, only having one year of education because he had to work on his family’s farm and his love of learning. He told the students that he was born in a one-room cabin, his mother died of poisoned milk when he was 9, and he spoke about the infamous night at the Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Some students questioned if it could really be the real Abraham Lincoln; one even touched his beard to see if it was real. After the school-wide program was over, fourth-grade students were able to ask "Honest Abe" questions and many of the students ask about the night he was assassinated on April 14, 1865. The 16th President of the United States looked puzzled and said he only remembers attending a play at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. on that exact date.

Our Jets were intrigued by his black stovepipe hat, the pocket watch he carried, and hearing him reinforce many of the historical facts they are learning about at Jefferson.
