Flipped Classroom

Created by Knewton and Column Five Media

Flip at PCSC

Flip Instruction is being used in several classrooms at PHS, Lincoln, and Riverside Schools.
  • Teachers were trained in the art of creating instruction videos in the form of a podcast (audio or video).
  •  Teachers upload a video, audio, or PDF paper file onto a Mac OS X server which houses each teacher's Wiki and Blog.
  • The students subscribe to these Blogs, which will automatically download the most recent podcast onto their computer (as long as the student opens iTunes while at school on the network).
  • Students watch the video or listen to the audio right from iTunes - they don't even need the Internet at home.
  • At school, teachers then assess for understanding of the material, reteach if necessary, and then do an activity that strengthens their understanding of the material.
