What a show! Everybody loves a big dance number and Jefferson Jets are no exception. With top hits from Beauty and the Beast, Footloose and a specular rendition of Stuck Like Glue, our students learned what it would be like to perform in a show choir. They were fascinated.

The Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County will be closed Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday, May 30 for repairs and staff training and reopen Thursday, May 31 for the 1st day of summer.

Club members and parents have been informed of this shutdown for the past month. There have been two Club meetings reminding youth of the dates. Signs have been posted around the building and on windows for nearly two weeks. For the past several days, they have been sending home reminder notes for all parents. In addition, they are verbally reminding the parents when they pick their child up.

Healthy Changes in Our School Cafeterias!

This fall, our school cafeterias are meeting tough new federal nutrition standards for school meals, ensuring that meals are healthy and well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school. Now is a great time to encourage your kids to choose school lunch!

School meals offer students milk, fruits and vegetables, proteins and grains, and they must meet strict limits on saturated fat and portion size. Starting in School Year 2012-2013, school lunches will meet additional standards requiring:
  • Age-appropriate calorie limits.
  • Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (students must take at least one serving of produce).
  • A wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red/orange vegetables and legumes.
  • Fat-free or 1% milk (flavored milk must be fat-free).
  • More whole grains.
  • And less sodium.

We are always working to offer Plymouth students healthier and tastier choices.

School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy families too!
Breakfast: $1.10 all schools Lunch: $1.75 K-6 $1.85 7-12
Easy online payment system: MyNutrikids.com
We look forward to welcoming your children to the cafeteria this fall.
Thank you!

Hey -- when you say you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way! This Jefferson student is showing major team spirit on crazy hair day in preparation for the Fun Fair May 18!
Picture
We can hardly wait! There'll be games and prizes, a dunk tank (Mr. Scheetz and Mr. Ringenberg!), bouncy house and bouncy slide, raffle baskets from your teachers and MORE MORE MORE! Tickets will be four for $1 at the fair and you can get pizza, a hot dog, cotton candy or a Sno Cone for four tickets! (Plus there is a super deal -- chips, drink and entree for just seven tickets!) Come celebrate the end of the school year and support Jefferson! Bring your friends!

It breaks our hearts when students we've worked hard with all school year long come back in August with reading scores lower than when they left. YOU CAN HELP! If you read a story with or to your child just a few times a week -- even for just five or 10 minutes -- it really makes a difference. REALLY!Please help our Jets prevent summer brain drain and keep their reading fluency sharp. You already know reading is what begets ALL learning. Below are few reading lists to give you ideas -- remember the Plymouth Public Library is FREE and open Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday - Saturday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. It may even make for a good bike ride from your house. They have a summer reading program there with prizes, too! (See the attachments below to sign up for and learn more about the PPL's summer program.)

Our librarian, Mrs. Petrucelli, compiled a lot of summer reading lists and helpful brochures for parents on reading on her Moodle page, here. Check it out. (Especially blocks 4 and 7.)
