The Beta Delta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa is proud to sponsor our first annual Tri Kappa Honor Scholar Essay Contest. The purpose of this contest is to promote the core values of Tri Kappa – Charity, Culture, and Education. Students who qualify (have a GPA of 9.0 overall) and who participate will be asked to submit an essay pertaining to these characteristics. A committee of Tri Kappa members will then choose one male and one female winner from each of the four grade levels (9th – 12th). Winners will receive $250 to be used toward educational expenses and will be honored at a banquet in June.
Essay Topic:In 500 – 1000 words, please describe for us how a personal dedication to the above Tri Kappa core values will benefit our community and/or society as a whole. Please be sure to include specific examples of how you are already involved in these areas and how you plan to incorporate them into your future. Essays must be submitted to the PHS Guidance Office by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11. Please make sure to include your name (first and last), your grade level, and your Home Room teacher's name in the right upper-hand corner. Also, please sign and date your essay at the bottom.

On Wednesday April 25, 2012 the Plymouth FFA Chapter held it's annual awards banquet in the cafeteria and studio theater of Plymouth High School. During the awards ceremony the chapter was awarded a check for $1250 dollars from Monsanto for finishing 4th in the indiana Chapter Challenge, students were recognized for accomplishments within the Plymouth FFA as well as in district competition, and the 2012-2013 officer team was announced. Congratulations to yearbook staff members Lindsey Downs, Cassi Quissell, and Nathan Mahan for being selected for the National Scholastic Press Association's Journalism Honor Roll. The NSPA Honor Roll recognizes student journalists who have excelled as journalists and scholars, have served on staff for a minimum of one year, and have a minimum GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.
As a whole staff the the 2011 Mayflower earned an honorable mention for cover design at Ball State University's annual J-Day contest, following only NorthWood with a Superior Rating and Heritage Junior/Senior High with an Excellent Rating. Additionally, Karson Doll received an honorable mention for her yearbook feature story. Ball State's J-Day draws more than 1,500 high school journalists to campus. The J-Day contest is a means for high schools to get valuable feedback on their publications as well as recognition for their most outstanding entries. This year, nearly 800 entries were submitted in newspaper, yearbook, magazine, online and broadcast journalism categories. Kudos to The Mayflower staff!
On Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM in the North Parking Lot of PHS the Plymouth School of Inquiry will hold the first ever Drive Smart for Your School event in partnership with Lincoln and Oliver Ford. The event will help to raise money for the new school to purchase technology and equipment. For each driver, over the age of 18, that takes a 5 minute test drive of a Lincoln vehicle,and fills out a short survey, Lincoln will donate $20 to the School of Inquiry for a maximum donation of $6,000.
Across the parking lot the baseball team will be holding their annual Walleye Fish Fry in partnership with Tom's Tasty Taters from 11 AM - 7 PM. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased from baseball team members of Coach Plothow at PHS.
On Tuesday, April 17 the Social Studies & Fine Arts teams both placed third at the Indiana Academic Super Bowl Competition at Northridge. The Plymouth High School FFA Chapter Parliamentary Procedure Team has once again successfully placed at district and advanced on to sectional contest! District contest was held at Warsaw High School on April 10 and had 5 teams compete. The top two teams advanced on to the sectional contest held at Argos High School on April 16. 6 teams competed at the sectional contest. Last year, for the first time in recent years, PHS FFA placed 2nd at district and advanced on to sectional contest where they placed 4th. This year the team in which was made up of nearly 50% new members, placed 3rd at sectionals. The top 2 teams at sectionals advance to state competition. The team consists of Trent Pletcher, Tucker Pletcher, Makayla DePoy, Sarah Lindvall, Makayla Fox, Jessica Cleveland, Garrett Fox, Emily Denney, Julia Lipply and Megan Snyder.
The chapter looks forward to what the future may hold in regards to a parliamentary procedure team earning their way to compete at the state level one day soon!
The Plymouth Boys Basketball Coaching Staff and Program will be hosting our annual Father/Son or Parent/Son Clinic for any boy currently in grades 1-8 on May 10, from 5:30-8:00 PM in the Varsity Gym. During this 2-hour workout, we will take your son through our basketball workout that we feel can be beneficial to improving their game. The parent that attends will be assisting their child as well as participating so come dressed ready to play. Our hope is that by participating in this workout your son will be able to find a gym or a driveway and practice these skills to make him a better basketball player. This will also allow each parent a chance to be able to work with their child at improving their game as well. We will also plan on having a guest speaker as part of this clinic. There will be a summer volleyball informational meeting at Plymouth High School in the main gym on Wednesday, April 25th, 7:30 – 8:15 pm, for 4th through 12th grade. Players along with their parents are encouraged to attend this meeting to fill out forms for the Plymouth Volleyball Summer Camp, the high school Munciana Camp, and meet Coach, Doug West, and his coaching staff.
On Monday evening Plymouth High School held it's annual Academic Excellence Banquet honoring students in the top 5% of their class. The students, along with their parents and a designated Most Inspirational Teacher, attended the banquet, sponsored by US Granules, in the Red Rock Cafe and then adjourned to the Studio Theater where each student was presented with a plaque commemorating their achievement.
In addition to the students being recognized, each student presented their Most Inspirational Teacher with a plague and spoke to the audience about what qualities that teacher possessed to inspire them.
