Freshman English student's completed their initial Achieve 3000 tests this week in English Class.  These tests will form a baseline measurement for the program to place students at the appropriate reading level, and to be used to compare reading growth over the trimester.  The program, features daily news articles that are designed to individualize instruction by adapting the class article to a variety of different reading levels and match those reading levels with appropriate discussion questions, while fostering broader class discussions because all students in class are learning similar information.

As PHS transitions to the Common Core Standards that Indiana will be adopting, the program will help us to strengthen the ability of PHS students to read, while engaging them in the kind of informational and non-fiction reading that the Common Core Stresses.  Freshman teachers will utilize the program several times weekly to help evaluate and increase the reading levels of their students.

Below are students from Ms. Wezeman's class using the program.
