The Plymouth High School Boys Basketball Program once again hosted its annual summer basketball camp last week for boys in Grades K-7.  Over 150 Plymouth high school, junior high, and elementary players and coaches attended this event held at Plymouth High School.  The focus of the camp was on attitude and effort, as well as, skill development.  Hustle awards were given out daily to any deserving player that reflected a great attitude and effort.  There were also some intense 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games throughout the week.

Coach Bales said, "It was another great week spent blending our high school players and coaches with our up and coming players in the program.  Hopefully our campers came away with a positive experience and learned something along the way.  I can't thank our coaching staff and players enough for sacrificing their time to make this a great camp for our younger players.  I want to thank Oliver Ford for sponsoring the camp T-shirts which helps offset our costs and Bowen Printing for the certificates that were printed for each camper".

The test will take about 45 minutes to complete.

(This meeting will be held at the Weidner School of Inquiry - Red Room - Enter Door #7.)
The following is a brief description of the board agenda for tonight’s meeting.  If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

3.1 Several teachers from Lincoln Junior High will show a short video on the recent 8th Grade Trip to Washington DC.  The trip was well organized and the students learned a lot in this short time.  The teachers will talk about what the students were able to witness.

3.2 The Board will be asked to consider the re-appointment of Linda Rippy to the Plymouth Public Library Board as requested by Mrs. Susie Reinholt.

3.3 When we chose RISE for an evaluation system, we agreed with the teachers that we would review the system after the first year.  There were a lot of hidden surprises in the system, some good and some bad.  A committee of teachers met during the last six weeks to evaluate the system and recommend changes.  All of the changes that Mr. Funston will report are changes that I also recommend.

3.4 The Board will be asked to consider the Kids Hope USA Mentoring Program at Webster Elementary.  This is a program established by the Methodist Church.  It is aimed at mentoring students who need a parent figure.

3.5   The Board will be asked to consider the textbook fees for grades K-6.  The principals from the elementary schools and Riverside Intermediate have created a new schedule of fees for students for the 2013-2014 school year.

3.6 The Board will be asked to consider the textbook fees for grades 7-12.  The principals from the junior high and the high school have created a new schedule of fees for students for the 2013-2014 school year.

3.7 The Board will be asked to pass a resolution which would reserve our ability to reimburse from bond proceeds if we elect to request a bond.  In the July meeting, the Board will start the process to borrow money through a GO Bond.  This resolution gives the Board permission to use the GO Bond proceeds to pay any expenses prior to finalization of the Bond.

Despite the cold and rainy morning, the PHS band members showed up at Oak Hill Cemetery prepared to stand in the rain to perform for the community and local veterans who attended the annual Memorial Day ceremony.   Holding umbrellas over the performers, many band parents and community members helped keep the students and their instruments out of the rain.

"Our veterans did not get the choice on whether or not to serve our country in the rain or other unfavorable weather conditions.  Our kids were there and made the best of the situation to make sure we were able to perform the National Anthem for our community members who also stood in the rain for this event.  I was very proud of our kids and their willingness to make this important day special for everyone involved," said band director Bryan Ames.

Ceremonies and special days like this are a valuable experience and important opportunity for our music students to give back to their community.
