As part of our Social Studies curriculum, Kindergartners learned about the pilgrims, Indians, and the 1st Thanksgiving feast.  Our culminating event was our annual Thanksgiving Feast where students from all three classes brought and shared food that the pilgrims and Indians may have eaten.  Many parent volunteers helped make this feast a huge success!  (Check out our Facebook page for more photos!)

Congratulations to  Anthony (Mrs. Poor's Class), Maddy (Mrs. Hoover's Class) and Dylan (Mrs. George's Class).  They visited the bookfair during Family Night and were entered into the drawing for a free book.  The winners each selected a book from our bookfair.  Thank You to all who visited and supported our fundraiser.  This fundraiser allows us to purchase many new books for our library.

The PBL kindergarten job fair was a huge success on Friday, September 30.  Students had generated a list of additional helpers that they wanted to talk to after visiting the post office, library, police station, Midas center, and fire department a couple of weeks ago.  We were able to have Mary Eiler, Washington nurse, Dr. Gschwind, 7 Oaks veterinarian, Rebecca Bradley, therapeutic dog trainer with her dog, Delila, and Bob Stone,  with Republic Services (and a brand new garbage truck) present to and were interviewed by our classes.  This is a great community!

Kindergarten students kicked off their first PBL Community Helpers unit by talking to firemen after a school-wide fire drill.  They were able to see, touch, and walk through an ambulance and a fire truck.  They asked questions and learned about the various jobs of firemen.  Kindergarten students will be taking a community walk through downtown and will visit other community helpers this week.
