Lieutenant Colonel Bill Lee came to visit first grade to talk about the Air Force as a part of this week's Military Appreciation Week. The students asked great questions and Lt. Col. Lee talked about all of the places he got to visit while being a part of the Air Force and all of the opportunities he has been able to have because of his choice to join the military. He also discussed the importance of Memorial Day and shared a video of his life in the military. Thank you so much Lt. Col. Lee! Your service is greatly appreciated!
Our very own Wildcat Alumni, Cadet Meagan Barron, visited the first grade classroom today to teach them about the Navy and the ROTC program she is currently in at Mary Baldwin College. She shared that she first decided she wanted to join the Navy when she was in the 2nd grade. She is a great role model for our students! Thank you Cadet Barron!
First grade is honoring our service men and women this week by learning about each branch of the Military. On Monday we had the honor of Mr. Huff and Specialist Elliot visiingt our classrooms. The students learned about the soldiers tours overseas and what it means to be in the Army. We are so grateful for their service to our country! THANK YOU!
The Washington Discovery Academy held its first parent night on May 14, 2012. At this meeting, new principal, Mr. Andy Hartley, and staff were introduced. Hibbett's was on hand to to showcase the academy apparel, and the uniform guidelines were presented. Grade level presentations were also held.
If you were unable to make the meeting, please contact the school. We will have information ready for you to pick up.
The fourth graders have been studying Natural Disasters for their project during the spring. During one of the activities, students designed and created their own ready kits to help prepare them for a natural disaster that they may encounter with their families. Students did a wonderful job creating these kits!
Another activity that students created were tornadoes in a bottle. Students had a great time creating these and learning more about the natural disasters that we have in our area.
It’s that time of year again, the sun is shining, the grass is green, and
flowers are blooming. The annual Washington Field Day is once again
upon us. To make this day a success, we are going to need some help.
If there are any volunteers that would like to help, it would be greatly
appreciated. The date of the “2012 Washington Field Day” is going to be,
Wednesday, May 30th. The time for the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades
will be 9:00 to 10:30. The 3rd and 4th grades will be participating from
1:00 to 2:30. If you would be willing to help, please contact Mr. Kershner at mkershner@plymouth.k12.in.us.
