Recess Policy

12/07/2011

It is the policy of the Plymouth elementaries that children go outdoors for recess.  The fresh air and freedom of the playground are needed by the students.  It is important that children come dressed for the weather.  All children, except those who are kept in for additional work or those who meet our policy for staying in due to illness. will be sent out to recess.  If your child is returning to school from illness, he or she will be allowed to stay in at recess for two consecutive days upon your request.  Students needing a stay in beyond this period should bring a doctor's statement.

We use the following guidelines for staying inside:
        1.  rain or wet snow
        2.  playground to muddy or too icy
        3.  temperature 15 degrees or below or the windchill factor is below 10 degrees, or the  discretion of the Principal.

Teacher aides supervising the playground may bring students in early if they determine weather conditions warrant.

Parents/Guardians of K-3 Participants,
I have included information for your son's game in which he will play at halftime of a high school junior varsity basketball contest. Admission for your son is free to the Plymouth High School Gymnasium, however, everyone else that attends (family members, friends, etc.) will need to pay to enter. At the ticket area, have your son show the ticket taker their Red and White reversible youth league jersey and explain that they will be participating in tonight's halftime game for the Plymouth Boys Basketball K-3 League. We would prefer that you enter Door #7 (East side of the gymnasium), but all workers at each gymnasium door will be able to direct you. Once you are in the gym, we would like for our K-3 League players to sit together in Section N (east side of the gymnasium in the upper deck). Our youth coaches will be up there to sit with them. This will allow our coaching staff to get our players organized for this halftime game into teams and also be able to put together a list of players names for announcing them as they run onto the floor. The JV game time is 6:15pm, so we would like for our K-3 players to be at the gymnasium by 6:00pm. They will take the floor at approximately 6:45pm for their halftime performance. Once they play at halftime, they will be under your supervision for the remainder of the night. We would love for you to stick around for not only the remainder of that game, but also for the varsity game that follows.

If you have any questions, our contact information is below and we will do our best to get back with you as soon as we can and answer any questions you may have. Thank you for allowing your son to be a part of the Plymouth Boys Basketball K-3 League and we hope that it was a good experience for him. We hope to see your son at summer basketball camp and at our K-3 League again next season. We also hope that you can attend several games this season to support our high school players and program. This experience will benefit your son's learning in the game of basketball by being able to observe what our high school players can do on the court.

Sincerely,
Coach Bales
Head Boys Basketball Coach, Plymouth High School
